This afternoon programme of seminars and workshops will be led by expert speakers in the field. Designed by and for aphasia researchers and trialists, this is an opportunity to develop your research skills and discover practical strategies.

Part of the satellite events at the International Aphasia Rehabilitation Conference, IARC 2018, these afternoon sessions will follow a morning of CATs working group meetings and a network lunch held on the 4th September.
We are aiming for a small group so places are limited. Priority will be given to postgraduate/PhD students and postdoctoral aphasia researchers who are members of CATs or who have an interest in joining the collaboration. Please note we are unable to provide funding support for travel and accommodation costs.
The sessions are great opportunity to discover the benefits of CATs membership!

Abstract submission
The aim of the pre-conference abstract submission is to give Early Stage Researchers (ESR)* and Junior Stage Researchers (JSR)** an opportunity to submit abstracts about their research which is in progress, and not yet completed, for poster presentation at the IARC 2018 pre-conference event on the 4th of September 2018. Abstract submissions will be subject to a peer-review process and successful applicants will be notified by the end of May 2018.
*ESR (researchers within 8 years of Ph.D. completion)
**JSR (students registered as undertaking their Ph.D.)
The review process and publication of abstracts will be coordinated by CATs. PLEASE NOTE: Abstracts WILL NOT be published in Aphasiology 32(S1) and so are an ideal opportunity to share and discuss your ongoing work with others in your field.
Abstract submissions must be in English.
Abstracts should present innovative and unpublished work, be submitted as Word document and the text should be structured according to these guidelines:
Background: Describe the background to the study.
Aims: State the aims and objectives of the study including any clear research questions or hypotheses.
Methods & Procedures: Include an outline of the methodology and design of experiments; materials employed and subject/participant numbers with basic relevant demographic information; the nature of the analyses performed.
Outcomes & Results: Outline the important and relevant results of the analyses where these are available.
Conclusions: State the basic conclusions and implications of the study where available. State, clearly and usefully, if there are implications for management, treatment or service delivery, or what these are anticipated to be.
The abstract cannot exceed 600 words (including headings; excluding references), can include up to five references, one table and one figure with a resolution of at least 300 dpi.
